Long time, no see, right? Well, there are times I’d love to post something but have no time. And everytime I have some spare time to post something, I do other stuff… But I finally managed to sit down and write some tasting notes, here’s the first one!

29.260 – a visceral, elemental Experience

Distillery: Laphroaig
SMWS Code: 29.260
Flavour profile: Old & Dignified

Age: 19 yo
Cask: 1st american oak Oloroso Butt (13yo) & 1st fill spanish oak Oloroso Butt (3yo)
Alcohol: 56,9 %
Colour: dark amber

Nose: Dried fruits, some dryness, some peat and oak wood, also some coffee and dark chochlate. With water there is more peat, also toffee and coffee!

Palate: Peat and some bacon, very spicy, also lightly dry and maybe some chocolate. With water more velvet but also more peated, still quite spicy.

Finish: Long and warming, with water not as long as without, but still long!

Overall: A very impressive Whisky. If you’re a sucker for sherry cask matured Whisky, this one is for you. Also you should like peated Whisky. This one is not as heavily peated as you might expect, but after 19 years in the cask this is understandable. Also, this Whisky needs some time in the glass, so keep that in mind!

My rating: 19/20/21/20 = 80 out of 100.
